Re: Name of Test?

Just a Quick note, I just wanted to let you know that 1 in 50 people carry the gene in most populations. However, your odds would be 50 50 if you are a carrier that a child of yours would have it. But on the ?good? side if for some strange and unlikely reason a child of yours does develop CAH the chances are more likely that it will be a lesser version than your husbands. As far as the test, I believe it is an ACTH stimulation test or you can actually get gene mapping done. You could call your state health department to find out if they do CAH testing at birth. If they do/ or do not you may want to ask if they need volunteers for any studies to begin testing. Which consists of gene mapping. All you would probably pay for is the blood draw. I believe each state goes through the same general process to begin and continue their newborn screen program. WE recently had our son's genes mapped for free as a result of this. Good luck!!
