We started our daughter on the pills when she was almost 4. The first day, I gave her the pills (2) in the morning and said "do NOT chew them"......so, of course, she promptly chewed them up...then cried and cried. Loads of juice went down THAT morning. At her afternoon pill....I said "do NOT chew" and I think I showed her how I take one of my vitamins. We were lucky.....the first morning pill episode was still fresh in her mind. She took it like a pro. Getting her to do it EVERY day, 3x a day, involved favorite drinks which are rare in this household (soda, Kool-Aid, etc.) After a while, I took away the "special" drinks and she was fine with it. It's been almost 2 years and she doesn't remember a time when she didn't take pills. Good luck...we're always here for you.
