I heard through the "Tyler for Life" group that on Thursday night's airing of ER, there will be a child who dies of a dietary disorder that could have been detected through newborn screening. The group is asking that you call your local NBC affiliate and stress to them the local importance of the testing. Especially for those of you who live in states that do not run the screening. I e-mailed our affiliate today to share that although ALabama does have the screening, by day 12, we had not recieved word and our son was very ill. It took a call to that office to have them run the test to get the results. In short....parents do not need to assume that no news means they are in the clear.
