Yes, definitely - you can also be representing me. I live in Missouri, we do not have state screening here. When the twins were born, an endo at a children's hospital in the "big city" was called (we live rurally). This hospital has written all over their walls on poster's etc. about their "being written up as one of the top 8 children's hospitals in the US." Whatever they say, but from reading this board, I think we had one of the worst 3 endos in the whole wide world from reading what other's of you have been told by your endos. I am the one whose 3 year-old twin daughter - precious, beautiful, blond-haired, blue-eyed child, died 12 days before her 4th birthday in June 1999. Erica was 3, but talked like a 7 year-old, an incredible child in every bit of her little self. Her surviving twin is also 21-hydroxy salt-wasting CAH. I was never told about an adrenal crisis, symptoms of one, about that they can die, etc. SO YES, ALL STATES need newborn screening. I TRULY BELIEVE THAT HAD MISSOURI HAD NEWBORN SCREENING FOR CAH, Missouri would have had a list of doctors who KNEW THE TRUTH ABOUT CAH AND HOW TO HANDLE IT. Instead, we get some doctor & hospital who this doctor & his training residents didn't know beans about CAH. This doctor teaches at the medical school university, endocrinology!!! Can you believe it!!! no wonder so many doctors don't know about adrenal insufficiency matters, ow serious, death, etc .. when you have doctors like this guy who didn't know beans about adrenal insufficiency matters teaching the medical students!!! AND if he or any of his staff read this board, no, I'm not mentioning this far western Missouri ONLY children's hospital and associated medical school ... BUT I am telling everybody & every "young" doctor who trained under "this doctor for endo" that they need to know some things & I tell them right then. AND .. none of these residents/young doctors WERE TOLD THESE THINGS BY THIS TEACHING DOC!! Ugh, thanks ... my anger does come out at times .. thankfully to vent in this manner than doing other things.Anne
