Re: Newborn Screening in Maryland

Sounds like you made some good head-way. I live in New Hampshire and as I understand it we do not test for it at birth. At the time my children were born we lived just over the boarder in Massachusetts and they do test. I thank God every day that we lived there at the time. It scares me to think what would have happened to my son had we not. I knew from the start that something was wrong with him. It was just a feeling. By the time we came home all he did was sleep and never wanted to eat. Once my doctor informed us they suspected CAH (we waited for a retest) he advised to wake my son an feed every two hours. I get stressed just thinking about the initial experience of it all. Well after having said that all.... I would be happy to give you my number to call me should you need me to write a letter in support. I think I can speak to both a state that tests and one that doesn't.
