My 11 yr old gets "beet red" anytime she does anything in the heat. She also is much more tired and sometimes had that same look coming off the baseball field or basketball court as when she is getting sick. She is also non-salt wasting (however, I think when she plays she sweats more and loses more than a "normal" amount of salt). She has taken hydrocortone since she was 3 and florinef since she was 5. She would look and feel sooo bad that after a game I would stress dose her. The ped. endo said theoretically this should not happen, but suggested a "salty snack" before the game and gatorade during the game. It still wasn't enough. Now I give her I dose of her hydrocortone before a game. Endo says that should not be necessary. It seems to make a big difference - enough to get her through without any problems. Right now we are in softball season and already having some pretty hot/humid days here in VA. When she plays at 8 pm we just give her the nighttime dose before the game instead of bedtime. That way there is no "extra" meds being given. It seems to work for her.Kay
