I know I've said this sometime before, but I think it is worth repeating. We have always told our daughter (now 11) as much as we felt she could understand about her CAH. She obviously knew at an early age that she was taking meds and her older brother was not. What we said is that no one is perfect. Dad had diabetes and high blood pressure and takes medicine. Big brother has a bad knee and several surgeries to try to repair the damage he did when he tore his ACL in half. I have allergies and take antihistamines, etc. The point is somethings you can see and others you can't, but no one is perfect. So she has this disorder - we have taught her to look at it as something totally treatable. When she used to go to the local Children's Hospital she would come out saying she was lucky because she could walk and run and play - some of those kids could do none of that. Then she really didn't mind taking medicine.
