My daughter is 9 years old and has been "in control" of her own medication for so long that I can't even remember how long she's been doing it. Of course I ALWAYS ask her... but it's become such a normal routine for her that she does it pretty much on her own. She could be outside playing in the middle of a game with a group of friends, but she'll leave for a minute, run into the house and shout out "Mom, I'm taking my pill!" Then she's off and back out to her game without hardly missing a beat. She thinks nothing of it. I have a little pill pack with 4 compartments. I put her morning dose in one, then her afternoon pill and then her bedtime pill. The last compartment just holds extra pills in case we're out somewhere and she's not feeling well or just in case she drops a pill and needs another. When we're home we leave the pill pack in the kitchen, same spot everyday, and she takes care of her medication on her own. When we're out we drop the pill pack into the pouch we have for her injections and we're good to go. I don't think we'll ever have a problem with her not taking her medication once she's older. It's already such a habit for her to do it on her own, and she understands how important it is to take it.Joan
