CAH and Weight Gain

Hi everyone. Was doing some searching and found this great place to get some real life answers that so often we wonder if our Peds. and Endos. are spending enough time to tell the real stories as opposed to just putting you at ease for the time being. My daughter (Alexandra) is 6 1/2 years old with CAH (Salt Loser). We have been blessed with only needing to keep her on one Flornef and a miminal dosage of cortef (2 MLs X 3 per day...one in the AM, one Mid day (usually around lunch), and her last at bedtime. Our Endo. tells us that some CAH patients will produce some cortisone which can keep the routine to a minimum (we hope that is our case). We have battled many episodes as everyone on this site has, however, one curiosity my wife and I have is the relationship to cortef and wieght gain. Alexandra's height is always evaluated with each endo visit and seems to be right on track, however, her weight has these spurts where all of a sudden she will spike an additional 4 to 8 pounds. Then after a few months, she seems to normalize a bit. We seem to go through these spurts a few times each year. She also has had several ear infections and our Ped. told us she should grow out of those problems (but at 6 1/2...we are concerned about the frequency as well). Has anyone experienced any weight gaining problems or numerous ear infectons that could be realted to CAH??
