Lynn, I'm sorry, but I can't give you an answer on how either over or under suppression, or sudden growth spurts affect the heart. I simply have never come across any information on the subject. That doesn't mean that the information doesn't exist. Someone else on this board or a good doctor might be able to shed some light on the subject I think that the signs you noticed in your son; getting thin, having a poor appetite and rapid growth are definitely warning signs of undersuppression. I don't know about the pins and needle pains, but I have to assume that they were also part of the overall set of symptoms. Your experience once again underscores why it is so important for parents to trust their instincts. You knew that something must be wrong even while your son's doctor steadfastly dismissed your concerns. Doctors are not infallible, especially when it comes to a condition as complex as CAH. I wish I could tell you that my emotional health matched my physical health but I can't. I think that my efforts to learn all I could about CAH and take control of my health was how I coped with the sense of loss of control over my body that I experienced from my surgery and frequent genital examinations. In that sense I suppose you could say that I have a positive attitude. Joan
