Re: CHEST PAINS & CAH?

Okay I'm going to go down a slightly different path here. I am not CAH I have a son who is. But my comments are regarding my own heart issues. I was diagnosed about 3yrs ago now with mitro valvue reguritation. I can remember as far back as about 4th - 6th grade having chest pain. My mother would always discuss it with the doctor, who we all loved, but she just said it was gas. Well it stopped for many years and then started in spurts throught the years again. Then I began about 12 years agon having several bad bouts again. About 3years ago I had a very bad year with colds, the flue and extreme exhaustion. My husband finally convinced me to see the doctor. Mostly because I couldn't seem to shake anything and it was getting very depressing. I found that the doctors really didn't want to take me seriously as I was a 32yr old female. What posible heart problems could I be having. Even thought I have serious heart conditions on both sides of my family. My pain woudl be so bad that I couldn't even finish taking a breat because I thought my chest was going to split in half. Anyone who knew me could tell something was wrong when I had an episode. They would ask if I was okay, never knowing there was even a problem. I felt if my doctors didn't really take me seriously why should anyone else. I began thinking I was crazy. It wan't until I explained it in a particular way to one doctor that to believed me and the search began on my heart. Although there isn't much that can be done for my condition I at least know I'm not crazy. After this diagnos I began to do some reading on the web. I found that there were 3 particular causes for my condition. The one that hit me right in the face when I read it was an aldosterone problem. If it weren't for my son I wouldn't even have known what that was. I then asked my doctor if it could be connected to my apparent CAH gene that I obviously have because of my son. He sent me to an endo who just looking at me said I didn't have cah. Well being a woman who works full-time, is a mother of two and wife I have not taken the time to persue it with another endo. Honestly I don't know if I ever will. But I can't help but wonder. See my mother, who I know I get the gene from also has heart issues one of which is a mitro valve problem as do several members of her family. My mitro valvue is the only one that is reguritation but it still involves many similaraties. Just food for thought. Judy
