We also have a boy with salt wasting CAH. My husband and I were also extremely shocked to find out we were carriers for this disease.. one we'd never heard of before. Our son is now a year and a half old and he is perfectly healthy! I was pretty freaked out when I first learned of all this CAH stuff. I thought I'd never have a moment of peace, that I would worry about him each second. But, it quickly became part of our everyday routine... giving him the medicine, taking him in to the doctor for blood work, reacting to colds and fevers. It might be reassuring for you to know that our son has handled illness like any other child. We have only had to give him a "stress dose" once when he had a very high fever. A couple of hours later, he was just fine. Many of the people who post here have girls.
