Re: Meeting with local rescue unit

It is a great idea! I did it in my town too. The idea was born out of frustration that NONE of the day care institutes are allowed to administer meds in the state of Connecticut. Needless to say, my son had an adrenal crisis while in pre-school one day. I live 3 minutes away and work out of the house but they waited way too long to call me. By the time I got there he was already onconcious on the cot. I injected him and rushed him myself to the hospital 30 minutes away. He vomited on the way. He was pretty bad. Needless to say, I switched preschools for him to three half days a week and kept him with me the rest of the time. I called the ambulance service, the police department and the new school system and met with them and gave them instructions as well. He will now go to Kindergarten and I have met with the Principal, his teacher and, most importantly, the nurse. She new I was coming and had already done some reading on the subject. She WILL give him his injection if needed. She even calls me at home now to tell me if there is anything going around school that my daughter could bring home to him!! I just called a friend of mine tonight who happens to be a policeman. He is checking to see if there is a possibility of me getting a flashing light for my car in case I should have to rush him to the hospital by myself again. God forbid.
