Well, I certainly wasn't expecting this. We had out family DNA tested and the results were quite alarming to me. My gene came back as the severe salt wasting type. That also shows up on my son's tests. It is my husband's that is quite unusual. He doesn't show a CAH gene at all! I know what your thinking, but I was totally faithful to my husband. Whew!! It seems that it is very rare, but there is a mutation for a certain kind of CAH gene that doesn't show up when tested with the regular testing. My son shows only one CAH gene as well and since there has to be two genes to cause CAH we will have to undergo more extensive testing. Just what my family needs right now! The plot thickens. If anyone in my husbands family tries to get tested to see if they are carriers for CAH, it would come up negative when they really do have it. So, ultimately this discovery is extremely important to us. Has anyone else experienced this situation? Or can they shed more light on it for me? Thanks in advance.
