Low renin means less salt or florinef

Dear Chris D. My daughter is now 8 months old and her blood work done at the end of February indicated a renin level less than 1 and 17OHP over 11,000. We switched her to Cortef tablets (2.5 mg ever 8 hours) and reduced her salt intake by one third. Her endo said that with a renin less than 1 (not measureable), that we needed to either reduce the salt or the Florinef. We chose to cut back on the salt, as she is eating baby food that adds a small amount of salt to her diet. Her most recent renin level is within normal limits as is her electrolytes. Her 17OHP is 165 which is lower than ever, but her new endo says that this is fine because she prefers to judge suppression more by the androgen levels than by the 17OHP and her androgen levels are good. This is the first time that we have not had to increase her Cortef and it is because we switched to tablets from the liquid. You may want to check with your endo about the renin and increasing the Florinef. Good Luck!
