Dear Becky, I have a 5 year-old daughter with salt-wasting CAH. When she was born, people from the hospital where I gave birth were going around saying my child was a hermaphrodite. So, I chose to educate people about her illness in its entirity. I am not ashamed of her being born with ambiguous genitalia. In fact, it was a blessing in disguise. I explain to everybody that she is a genetic female and she has only female organs. She just had a little extra tissue when she was born. They asked me how I knew she had something wrong with her when she was born, so I had to be honest. I believe that education is the key. Jamie Lyn
