The previous post of how much you tell and dealing with schools brings up another question. My son has been in preshool since he was 2 and I have been a teacher there since he was 3. Well, this is his last year there and I need to start getting geared up for Kindergarten. My daughter is already in school and I know that the 'clinic" is staffed by parents who have taken Red cross training. This is a volunteer position and rotates regularly. So, there is no ONE person to count on informing and there won't be anyone to give him a shot. So here are my thoughts/questions. Do you think I have a legal right to insist that there be a nurse at his school? Also, parents are allowed to request to not have one teacher. I personally would like to go to the pricipal and say that I don't necesarily have a request for any particular teacher. But I do need him to be placed ,at her discretion, with a teacher who would be level headed in a medical emergency and someone who would not dismiss small complaints that children make ( I'm tired, I'm thirsty, etc) His preschool teacher would just give me information in simple observances this year. He seemed tired today....he did not seem to want to color like usual. I'm not expecting a daily report mind you...but I dont' want a teacher who not allow him to go inside for water if he gets hot and who might ignore changes in his normal behavior. His teacher this year noticed a big change in his work habits when we decreased his meds and ended up increasing them again. I trust our principals judgement...I just want some thought put into his placement. I would appreciate yout thoughts and experiences with this.DebbiW
