I've read that story too. I realize how fortunate we have been with our daughter. She has had very few crisis situations. Her health is excellent and she has never had a problem with growth/weight. However, she knows how important it is to take her medicine. We are relaxed about the whole thing, but it is taken very seriously. She knows to NEVER miss a dose. She has pretty much been "in charge" of her medicine for as long as I can remember. I prepare it each day and put it in the same spot... she takes it when she's supposed to. I follow up by asking her if she's taken it, but she's excellent at always remembering. She doesn't think twice about dropping what she's doing... even if she's in the middle of a soccer game with the neighborhood kids... to run inside and grab her pill. When I say relaxed, I guess I really mean that we simply treat it as a normal everyday part of our lives that we deal with. To her, CAH is a very normal thing. Serious, but normal. We control the CAH, it doesn't control us. I know for others there are far more concerns because they've dealt with different situations. I'm grateful for the good fortune we have with our chid.
