Hate to break it to you, but....the third transfusion my son required was due to his circumcision. I Kid you not!!!! They told us that before he left we should have him circumcised due to the increased risk of infection on uncircumcised boys. And so we did. He had been in the hospital for so long on dry air and had been dehydrated as well. They couldn't stop the bleeding no matter what they tried so they had to put a clamp on his penis for 20 minutes while he lay their screaming his tiny little lungs out. They made me leave the room during that time because they said my crying made the nurses too nervous and they couldn't get an IV into his arm to begin the transfusion. He couldn't catch a break anywhere.
