The end of May Olivia had a cystoscopy and a bladder xray. Well yesterday we had the follow-up appointment with her urologist. * Cosmetically she will require no surgery. I am thankful that is one decision I won't have to make. * The bladder xray was amazing is what is showed. Her vagina connects into the urethra. And she has no vaginal opening -- not even fused together. For for several reasons we have decided to put corrective surgery off until she is about 4 or 5. 1. She will be bigger and it will make it easier for the surgeon. He indicated several times that it would be very complicated surgery. 2. She should be old enough to undertand in part what is happening to her. She will be able to go on the hospital's pre-surgery tour etc. 3. There have never been any UTIs. Hopefully this will continue. 4. In the last 12 months she has had a lot happen to her. It was 1 year ago on June 27th that she was placed in my arms and her whole life as she knew it was ripped away. Not only has she had to adjust to a new life but also to lots of doctor's appointments and poking and prodding. I don't know how well I would have held up and I'm the adult. (Come to think of it I am about 20 lbs lighter than I was before I left for China!) The good news is we don't have ANY doctor's appointments scheduled until the end of September! As a side note, Olivia is one of the tall kids. At her first peditrician's appointment last July she was in the 95% for height and 25% for weight. Since then she has "dropped" to between 75% and 90% on height and is up to the 60% on weight. I find this amazing for a child who was in an institutional setting for the first 7 months of her life. And her bone age is right with her chronoligical age. JanetJanet
