Always take the daily medications. Some people with out CAH are very heavy - runs in the family. So not everything can be blamed on too much cortef. But I do agree that too much cortef can cause weight gain. She may need to have the OH17 blood levels taken every month to get it under control. And the doctor need to take the 0H17, plasma renin, and chem 8 to monitor her levels. The OH17 must be taken before 8 am and without the cortef. Always have the solu-cortef injection on hand in case of a high fever, injury, dental procedurue, surgery and vomiting. You must give 100mg during physcial stress of an illness. You can not overdose if you are ill but if not even you can die from adrenal crisis - low blood pressure, drop in sodium and sugar blood levels, brain swelling and death. And give it immediately. This is most important thing to know - know how to give the injection and don't wait to get to the hospital. It can be too late then. preston@kreative.net
