Joan, I'm not a saltwaster, but still get the headaches. Lately I have been having problems with what I think are blood sugar levels, yet my endo's physician's asst. had me come in fasting and checked my blood sugar about 10:00 AM and it was 78. She said it was OK. I have noticed that I have problems with my right foot breaking out with little sores when I eat many carbs/sugar. Kind of a weird rash with little bumps. Also, my vision gets blurry and I get brain fog/dizziness. Also, after eating high glycemic foods (carrots, breads, pasta ) I seem to really crash about 1 1/2 hours later (can hardly stay awake or focus) I think I have a problem here, but I don't know enough about it to know if I do or not.) Maybe you could steer me in the right direction. I don't even dare eat one chocolate these days because I feel lousy afterward (cranky, dizzy, concentration problems) when my daughter (13) and I are at the mall and I mention getting a chocolate from See's Candies, she grabs my elbow and says "Mom, you know you will feel terrible it you eat one of those" She's right too! As far as the saltwasting thing goes, when I was diagnosed at age 19 (21 years ago) I don't think a Renin test was done at that time. I believe the first one was done 1 1/2 years age when I got my current endo. It came back normal, but he did mention I might want to try florinef (he said that before he got the results back) I tried it for several days, but actually felt worse (of course I had undiagnosed hypothyroid going on at that time too). Maybe I do need to give the Florinef a trial again. I have had several crises as an adult, and I haven't heard of many adults that are not saltwasting having them. I do have to be really careful to keep hydrated. I get really dizzy if I'm not. I also get dizzy if I eat carbs for breakfast (currently I have 1/2 c of oatmeal, 1/2 c of cottagecheese and a piece of fruit with ricemilk on oatmeal - no processed sugar. I feel good and pretty alert after eating that breakfast) I have found that I HAVE to have protein with each meal too. The headaches that I get now are usually around 4:30 or 5:00 PM, or later. I just figured it was my Dex wearing off. What do you think? Sorry this post is so long. Susan A.Susan A.
