When you change jobs, you usually are provided the option of extending the existing coverage for up to 18 months....this would come from CobraServ. In our case, there was a 30 day waiting period for our entire family to begin coverage...so we paid the COBRA for that period of time so we would have no interuption of coverage. It is when you have an interuption of coverge that you get into the waiting period stuff. Check on that!! But to answer you initial question....We live in Southeast US and I think for one months supply for our son (without intsurance), the cortef is very inexpensive...under $15. The flroinef is pricier. ther are many online pharmacies that you could shop and see what they charge. It might pay to shop around.
