Re: Stomach troubles from long-term steriod use.

Although we also give our daughter her 1 am meds with nothing other than a little water, with no ill effects FOR NOW, I am wondering about this approach. Steriods (which is what the hydro IS) are extremely hard on the lining of the stomach, over a period of time (I know this from professional and personal experience). I can't help thinking about an adult CAH'er who wrote quite a while back, that the medication - she mentioned the prednisone in particular - had ruined her stomach, and she was having all sorts of problems and treatments because of this. I would be interested to learn if any other CAH adults (I guess those that were diagnosed as infants, in particular, because they have been subjected to the meds for a longer period of time) have ongoing stomach / digestive tract problems, and if they took their meds with or without food. I do remember our pharmacist stating that it was important to take these meds with SOMETHING, and that milk was a good substitute. I think (?) that I also remember someone posting that they heard that milk somehow lessened the effect of the meds?? Any insight from anyone???
