GENE TESTING

I think that each family must weigh the options. It might be more beneficial to the family to do genetic testing on certain individuals to find out if they are carriers dispite the possiblity of not being able to get life insurance. I have a younger sister who is 16 and we are not sure if she is a carrier. I have the CAH gene so it is quite likely. I think that she should be aware that she might be able to pass this on to her children when she chooses to have them and that would mean that she needs to know that she is a carrier. As a side note, I have life insurance that I got through my bank which is a credit union and it was offered to me at no charge and no questions asked because i was a member of that bank. I believe that I also had a choice to extend that coverage but chose not to at the time because I cannot afford the premimums. So, it is not impossible.
