I have a 5 yr old son who has CAH & is also a salt-waster. When he was about 1yr old I began to notice how dark the body hair on my daughter was becoming. Especially down her lower back. I brought her to my pedi almost immediately. We are fortunate that our pedi is very familiar with CAH; as they also have two other patients with the disorder. One of our pedi's is also a personal family friend of one of the patients. He is able to answer many questions for us as a result. He wasn't at all concerned but advised that if we still were that we should discuss it further with our endo. Well my daughter is with us at almost every endo visit so she and the endo are very familiar with eachother. She took a look at my daughter as well and also wasn't concerned. She said that it is very normal for a childs hair to become darker and at times thicker as they get older, especially beginning around age 4-5. My daugheter was about 4 at the time. She feels that my husband and I are both fairly dark and that heavy hair funs in both sides of the family. I am not that bad but some of my relatives are. She also advised as did two other endo's that we spoke with from the same team that it is almost impossible for two different forms to run between siblings. They said it could vary with in families, meaning other relatives, but not between siblings. My daughter has never been tested and is now almost 8. I think she is still dark and will probably begin shaving earlier than I did. But there has never been any other signs. Hope this helps, take care JudyJudy
