I'm sorry you had a difficult time on the dex. when you were pregnant, and am glad you and your child are both doing well now. I know dex. is the drug of choice for pregnant mothers of CAH babies and have read of many others like you who report that it was "no picnic." I had a friend who was prescribed prednisone (a similar med) after surgery, who also reported that it was awful. Though we are experiencing no problems currently, it's still good to know what other people's experiences have been, just to remain constantly alert to possible problems. Would you mind letting me know what kind of side effects you experienced so I can ask my endo about them next time we see him? Also, would you remember the dose you were getting? As I mentioned, my 7 year old son (6 when he first started) has had great success with the dex. (knock on wood) and I'm trying to understand why our experience is so different from other people's. Our endo. is very experienced with dex useage, though, and says that the amounts needed for hormone replacement (as with CAH) are much lower than if it is used to treat other conditions (like infection and inflammation, as with surgery), so perhaps it is just that my son's dose is low enough where there are no noticeable adverse side effects. Anyway, any info. you want to pass along will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
