Kristin will be 12 next week. She started playing sports when she was 5. She has played soccer, softball, and basketball. She also rides horses. I always have had to list the medical condition on the form. We are at all her games and most practices. If we cannot stay for a practice, I make sure the coach knows we have our cell phone with us and we are never far away. We go to all games and I take a bottle of Gatorade with us. We watch her for overheating/dehydration (her biggest problem, even though she is a non salt waster, she seems to lose more than a normal amount of sodium when she gets hot/plays hard) and when she was younger we would tell the coach to pull her out for a while if necessary. As she has gotten older she can handle that herself. She has had injuries - sprains and just recently a broken thumb. None of this has been a big problem for her. We encourage the sports - it is a good outlet and helps with the weight issue we always fight. We try not to make a big issue of it - just be prepared in case she needs us.Kay
