If this is your first time on the board, it will look very empty but do not worry there are alot of us here that can give advise and support. This will range from new parents like yourselves to adults in their 50,s who are leading completely normal lives. It is hard to start with because there is alot to deal with, your emotions, your daughter,s care, will it change our goals, her life......... It certainly will get easier and her care will get easier as she gets easier. A babies diet does not contain alot of salt, so what she loses has to replaced. As she moves to solids and gets older her salt needs will probably be taken care of in her day to day diet. We always made a days salt requirement up and kept it in a syringe. At each feed we would put a little in over the whole day. This ment he did not notice any difference between bottles. You will get good advise on the surgery from parents with daughters but my son has had cranial-facial surgery. The basic rule to follow is only consent to surgery that is a medical requirement. My son will chose if and when he has his "cosmetic" surgery. Surgical techniques are are light years ahead of from where we were 8.5 years ago and will be even better when he is an adult. It will be no different for your daughter. I only found this board three weeks ago and it is great. I am glad you have found it and will benefit from the advise and support from the word go!!
