Re: my 5 yr old daughter may have CAH

All the messages posted here are filled with excellent information. I would like to add just one more thing. I would get your son tested as well. There are not any major outward signs for boys except that many of them have a rather large penis. That is not always the case though. Some of the signs of crisis are lethargy, sluggishness, and a medley of others all leading to shock, coma and even death if not treated properly. If your son has CAH as well, part of his problem may stem from CAH. I have a friend who had two autistic children. One was high functioning and the other was lower end. At 4 years old, they discovered that the child that was diagnoses with the more severe autism was deficient in some vitamins and hormones and was not actually autistic after all! It's worth a check. Where do you live? Perhaps someone on this board can refer you to a GOOD pediatric endo as that can make all the difference in the world. Please keep us all posted as to what you find out. We are all like one big family here on this board and we really do care very much about each other. Good luck, Lynn
