There seem to be some new people on the board (welcome!)... thought it'd be a good idea to make sure (especially for babies) that they're informed on the recall and need to talk to the endo about the tablets. Pharmacia & Upjohn is voluntarily recalling the above mentioned lots of Cortef Oral Suspension and has discontinued sales of the product. These lots represent all CORTEF Oral Suspension distributed by Pharmacia & Upjohn since July 15, 1998. Our medical specialists have determined that the current formulation of the product may not always be completely effective for the treatment of congenital adrenal hyperplasia. This recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the Food and Drug Administration and applies to pharmacies down to the retail level. The CORTEF Tablets product is NOT affected by this recall. Patients currently on CORTEF Oral Suspension or their caregivers should consult with their physicians as soon as possible to discuss alternative therapies. Pharmacia & Upjohn will continue working closely with the FDA to ensure a safe and efficient transition for patients."Kare
