Jennifer, The basic rule for these kids getting sick is any fever, vomiting, diarrhea, broken bone, you will need to double the dose of Cortef. Some triple it. See what your endocologist wants you to. I also doubled the dose of Cortef the morning of her immunizations. Again, you will find some mom's do, some don't. It will be up to your endocrologist. My endo. always knew how parinoid I was. You will find some kids get a fever and are cranky with the immunizations, some don't. I also gave her some Tylenol afterward. Better to be safe then sorry. You will find every endo. has a different way of treating the children. Here is a note worth taking. There is a cream that you put on your daughters skin that numbs it temporarily so blood draws do not hurt. It is called EMLA cream. It is very expensive but worth every dime. Ask your endocrologist for it. I put it on both of my daughter's inner arms where they draw blood. It is awesome cream. I wish I knew about it when my daughter was an infant. I used to cry along with her when she was an infant. Now she is a pro. Hang in there Jennifer. If she is coming down with a cold, my pediatrician always said to keep a cool humidifier to help her stuffy nose. Those "nose sucky" things help too. Just keep her comfortable. Check for a fever. Another note worthy of saving---keep infant acetaminophen suppositories on hand. This is in case a high fever won't come down with the oral tylenol, or she is vomiting it up. You also need to get what is called Solu-cortef. It is an injectible form of Cortef. This is incase your child cannot hold down her regular Cortef and keeps vomiting. We all carry this with us in a carrying case you can get anywhere, along with a Medic Id bracelet. If you need the number to Medic Id, I will post it for you. Ok, I think I am overwhelming you. Take a deep breath. You will not think twice about all this once you get it down to a science. It is quite overwhelming at first. Hang in there!!!!!
