How you are feeling is a completely normal reaction to your situation, do not beat yourself up. Once you understand CAH and are comfortable with dealing with any situation things will be completely "normal". YOU WILL EXPERIENCE ALL THE SAME JOYS WATCHING HER GROW UP AS OTHER PARENTS. In fact they will be more intense. It seems that some of the medical fraternity you have encountered get paid for not doing their job. Many of us have that tee shirt + the suit!!! The most important thing is to find a first class endocrinologist who treats other kids with CAH. The medication your daughter is on is just replacing hydrocortisone and fludrocortisone that she is not producing in a controlled and natural way. She will not be affected in any physical way except possible weight gain. However, good diet, lots of exercise and a good endo will ensure normal growth and development. Only consent to surgery that is medically necessary. Most of your depression will be caused by anxiety of the unknown. Information and knowledge will help you come to terms with a situation that seems unreal and overwhelming. Take heart, it is not. No one on this board will think any question is stupid or unreasonable. Everyone here who is able to help will give you good advise and support whenever needed. Shaun P.
