Andy, My daughter recieved this vaccine at her 18-month checkup in May. Sorry that I can't verify the name. Her pediatrician and I decided that even though she has not had a problem with ear infections, anything that will prevent her from getting one or pnuemonia would be benificial. One of the big differences with this vaccine and pnuemononcocal (sp?) vaccines that were made before it, is that this one is effective on children under the age of 2. She had no reaction to the injection -- though she hasn't had a reaction to any of her injections. I believe that several months back that Parents magazine had a write-up on it, even quoting the statistics. I will try to look it up when I get home tonight.
