Jennifer, Add my congrats to all the rest!! You are soooo lucky to have gotten in touch with this board so soon after you had your daughter. I spent 4 1/2 years on my own, reading and rereading the same old definitions and pamphlets until I was blue in the face. Those are just mere words on a paper. Nothing compares to the people on this board. They open their hearts to anyone in need. Their compassion is unsurmountable and empathy runs deep here. I had delayed post partum depression after my 2nd child was born. Even though he spent his first 28 days in the hospital teetering between life and death, it wasn't until I had him home for a few months and he had his first crisis with us that I crashed as well. I knew I needed help when I couldn't feel the same pure joy that I had felt when I had my daughter just a short 14 months earlier. Due to all the stress I had been under, my hormones had taken a nose dive and depression set in. It is not unusual for a mother to have the new baby blues, but you should also be able to experience some joy from your new bundle of love. Don't EVER hesitate to come to this board and ask questions. Someone will always have a response for you or a few funny stories that they had experienced themselves. Sometimes it just takes knowing that what you are feeling is normal to get your mood up and running again. CAH is scary at first, but if managed properly they can live a pretty normal life. Make sure you are very comfortable with your endocrynologist and that he/she shares everything with you and helps you to understand what he/she is talking about. Also, you and your husband should become educated on CAH and all the words that are associated with it so that you are not intimidated when you go to your doctor visits. Remember that a big part of depression is caused by feeling alone and isolated. Don't let that happen to you and don't be a stranger here. Remember, we are all in this together, and there are a lot of us to keep you company. Good company I might add!(:>) Congratulations again and God bless, Lynn
