Curious about the change from suspension to pill
8/5/00 9:08 PM
Before I ask my question, I thought I'd mention that I found out about the cortef suspension because our pharmacist, a very kind and caring person, called us at home the minute he got the word. That was the last week of July. Now, on to why I'm sending this post. I have enough suspension to last until late next week, and my son (who'll be 8 in September, and was just diagnosed this past December) has his regular level check appointment on August 10. I've spoken with my doctor's nurse and they don't want to put him on the pill because the doctor said it wasn't as easy to increase/decrease the dosage with a pill. Instead, they've found a local pharmacy willing to compound the pill into suspension, and I'll be getting a new prescription when I see the doctor on the 10th. What can I expect? Is this new suspension going to be different from what my son has been taking? Have any of you encountered what my doctor said, about not being able to tweak the dosage as easily with the pill? My son has no problem taking pills and would much prefer to do so. Bless his heart, he hates the taste of the suspension but always has taken it without any fuss or bother. I appreciate any information anyone can provide that would help prepare my husband and me for what's next in this battle. Thanks so much. Lynn G.
