If you search the internet, you will find SCADS of information about homeschooling; you can also find specific information pertaining to the "rules" in your province or state. It IS becoming more popular, and I know of many families that do it. Their children are excetionally well-mannered and at ease with people of ALL age groups. Yes, you do have to be aware of the socialization issue, but it is not as critical as the public educators would have you believe: look at all the people that were educated at home a century ago (including many famous and "brilliant" leaders in our society!) - that time period did not produce a generation of social misfits, and I don't believe homeschooling will either. One of the most interesting, intellegent, and well-rounded woman I know was homeschooled in Alaska, because they lived 2 days drive from the closest public school! Don't let anyone make you feel bad about checking into this - it is a good option and one that you and your family must make for yourselves. I decided to try to homeschool my non-CAH son long before my CAH daughter was born, mostly because of religious and public education standards issues; being able to monitor her condition at home, and not have to worry about daycare, pre-school, etc., is just another nice benefit to homeschooling! If you want to e-mail me about this (or anything!), I always love to chat! I'm at Kruesel@escape.ca Good luck with whatever you choose!Wendy-Lee
