Sharon, Yes, a fused vaginal opening could be the only external sympotoms of CAH. Actually, with my daughter, there just isn't one. But this is also VERY common in non-CAH girls. First of all, there are some things you should probably check into, but there is no reason to panic. If I were in your position, I would talk to your pediatrician about the situation. Depending upon your insurance, you might or might not need a referral to see a pediatric endocrinologist. A ped endo (you want one who treats CAH patients, many only do growth and/or diabetes) will be able to do some blood work to check. One way of checking is to check the 17-OHP levels. 95% of those with CAH have a 17-hydroxylase deficiency and this test will show it. Another way is with the ACTH activation test. ACTH is a hormone that is secreted by the pituatary gland and activates the adrenal gland. For this test they will take a base-line blood draw, give your daughter some synthetic ACTH and then do another blood draw 30 to 60 minutes later. Good luck, JanetJanet
