CAH treatment in Japan

Hi. I have a 2 years old boy with CAH(salt losing). He was born and treated in Japan till he was 1 year old. His ped endo. was the best known and the leader doctor for CAH in Japan. He had 5 ped endo in his team at the children's hospital. The thing is, in Japan doctors try to keep my son's 17-OHP level very low. ( I have a chart here and it says 17a-OHP(ng/ml). Is it different?) The numbers are, 1.9, 0.8,1.2,<0.5 and so on. He didn't have any problems and his bone age was perfect, and was a very happy baby. Then we moved to Hawaii and the first thing that his new ped endo did was to lower his meds. Now his bone age is about 5 months advanced. His 17-OHP level now is around 500.We think in Japan kids are oversuppressed so they will have weight problem. That's what I thought so I asked the doctor there and he said they are rather thin than overweight. It doesn't make sence to me..??? What do you think? And another thing it might interest you is that in Japan the form of medicine is "powder". They come in little clear pouches, separated as single dosage. And the dosage can be anything. You have to wait for a little while, sometimes even an hour to get your medicines, but I think it's worth it, especially now cortef oral suspension went bad and my son hates the cortef tablet. He even spits out with choco pudding which he loves. Any good ideas? Hydrocortisone in Japan was called "Cortlil(I have no idea how to spell it)". Frolinef(?) was the same. Rie ligedy@yahoo.com
