My son went into adrenal crisis when he was six days old, tests were done and nothing amiss was found. From being in IC to stablelising on fluids , he was released two days later. Not suprising he went into adrenal shock that same evening and was back in IC for a few more days. He then had three weeks of tests before they eventually diagnosed him with Congenital Adrenal HYpoplasia(he has no adrenal cortex). My point is that as long as your son is on a drip and IV fluids he will be OK. His blood fluid levels, salt, sugar etc will be kept perfect. AS long as this happens he will not go into adenal crisis. My son did not have his meds for those first few weeks but was always on IV fluids and he was fine. I do not think you have anything to worry about because it seems they want to see if the adrenal cortex is working or to what degree if at all. As all the questions raised in this post and you will be fine. Good luck. Shaun P.Shaun P.
