Help...Ped endo doesn't want to give cortef pil
8/16/00 5:44 PM
I Have a 17 month old daughter, Emily, who has salt-wasting cah. My ped endo doesn't want my daughter to take the pill and has already called in a new precription to the pharmacy for them to compound their own cortef suspension. He says she is doing well on the cortef suspension and doesn't want to start on the pill because she is taking such a small amount per day (3ml total). I disagree with him because it seems she is growing well but every time her levels come back (every three months) the 17ohp is either way up or way down and then we adjust and wait another 3 months. Now that I have been reading all the messages on this board I realize she probably could be kept more stable with the pill. My question how do I approach him and not put him on the defensive? Our next appt. isn't until Oct. I thought I would have all that time to collect info and present it to him then, but I don't have that much time I need proof now. Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
