Hi Chris, I'm a 50 year old salt waster. Currently I take 30mg of Cortef (20mg AM and 10mg PM) and NO florinef. I first tried it in my late twenties but had to keep reducing the dose and finally said the heck with it. I decided to try again a few months ago but even at only .025 mg per day my blood pressure shot up to 150/80 and I'm used to it being about 115/75. I think the problem is that I have such a taste for salt that my high salt intake and florinef don't play well together. You can get a blood pressure monitor that has a cuff that goes around the wrist and inflates at the press of a button. After about 30 seconds the BP and pulse rate display automaticly. I recommend it for any salt waster and as well as anyone who takes florinef. Weight has never been a problem for me. All other factors aside too much Cortef will cause weight gain and too little will cause weight loss. In addition to high blood pressure, too much florinef causes water retention which could be a factor in weight gain. You should ask your doctor why she is thinking about putting you on florinef since you are not a salt waster and Cortef already has some salt retaining activity. If you do go on florinef be proactive and monitor your blood pressure at home. Hope this helps, JoanJoanW
