I agree with you Jennifer, I did the same in my town. The medical diector from our county office actually in-serviced the local paramedics about CAH. We were told at this meeting that most know it as adrenal hormone deficiency. Since our daughter uses hydrocortone injectable, our two ambulances now carry it, and upon arrival are authorized to inject her and start an IV on the way to our hospital. This may be more difficult to accomplish if you live in a big city. But I bet that if every parent of CAH children were able to do this in their town or city, alot more professionals would know about CAH and how to handle an emergency. We travel alot in the U.S., so I don't feel that we would have this kind of coverage in many other places. One always hopes the medicalert bracelet will do its job in an emergency.
