Hi, I am a very infrequent visitor to this board and post even less but I thought I would share my story. I am a 36 year old salt-waster. I started with a regular endo pretty much once I graduated from high school. Since I was away at college, it was necessary for me to have at least the name of someone nearby. Over the course of my short adult life I have been transferred and moved more times than most people do before they die (so far, about 6 times to completely different areas of the country). What I always do in a new city is get on the phone, have my provider directory handy and start calling and asking questions. Trust me, the mention of CAH salt-losing to a doctor's receptionist almost always piques their interest enough to get a call back from the doctor. I ask alot of questions including if they have any other patients, their treatment strategy, board certifications...blah blah blah. (Being a journalist is an advantage in getting answers.) I don't see it as any different than comparison shopping for a car. I also ask about having a good support staff because there have been times where I have gone overseas for what was supposed to be a two week business trip and found myself stranded for longer periods of time and running out of prednisone; and I have been able to have the doctor's staff overnight meds to carry me over (thank goodness for Fedex.) Be well.Betsy
