Re: Sad and Scared

You might not remember, but we spoke breifly at the Magic convention. I have a 7 yr old boy who has advanced bone age and really complains that the Solu-Cortef burns when it is injected. I went through the same thing when he started Kindergarten, but 3 months before he started his 3 mo old sister almost died of a SIDS related incident at her babysitter's house. Needless to say, I quit my job and started pursuing home-based work. We moved to Columbus last February and had to start all over with the schools. The issue of part time nurses is a concern, but I am only 3-4 minutes away. I think by the reaction I have received from the school, they will be overly cautious (I'm keeping my fingers crossed). I am constantly reminding the school that I don't want him treated any differently than any other child. For example, they wanted to put an aide on the bus with him. This person would not have been authorized to give the Solu-Cortef injection, so in my eyes it would have only singled him out. Many people have mentioned my home-schooling him, I have a degree in elementary education, but I feel the socialization is just as important and he needs more than what I alone can give him. I still worry though, I am afraid to go anywhere, on the off chance he would need something. I think the older he gets the worse it will get. The thought of college just terrifies me! Your in my thoughts and prayers.
