September is Newborn Screening Awareness month. If you are accessing this board, you probably have a child with CAH or you have CAH. Some were diagnosed at birth because of newborn screening and many (including my daughter) were not. Please take a minute of your time to visit the Tyler for Life website for information on Newborn Screening Awareness month. The address is: www.tylerforlife.com. Call or write your local state representatives and tell them you want newborn testing if you don't already have it in your state. Think of the lives that will be saved if we all get together and get these laws passed! I attended the Virginia General Assembly last January and spoke briefly when the bill was introduced here to get testing for CAH. They are currently exploring what other disorders they can add to the list!!! In about 2 years, we will hopefully be testing more extensively here in VA. It won't help my children, but maybe my grandchildren someday - or a neighbor or friend's newborn - or who knows how may stranger's babies who may be diagnosed with a disorder and receive the care they require. Think about it - it will only take a few minutes of your precious time to save/help many precious lives.Kay
