Has anyone out there with CAH ever developed a functioning adrenal tumor? I have classic, salt wasting 21OH CAH, diagnosed 30 years ago at birth. I quit the meds and doctors 4 years ago. When I went in for re-evaluation, in June of 2000, the hormone levels were off the charts, and a 4.5 cm tumor was discovered in the right adrenal gland by CT scan. The tumor itself is now producing high levels of androgens, over and above what is being produced by the adrenals themselves. My doctor said he had never heard of this happening with a CAH patient and hadn't seen anything in the literature. Any thoughts, comments, suggestions, or ideas would be most appreciated.
