hi jennifer, i know exactly how you feel as my daughter is only 4 1/2 months old and was diagnosed at birth. i needed to know more than the pitiful little my endo told us. a couple of things: make sure you have the injectable cortisol and carry it with you wherever you go. if your child vomits, has a very high fever or is lethargic you must give the injection immediately and get to a hospital for iv fluids and salts. these kids can deteriorate quickly. (My endo told me none of this!) be prepared for anything and hopefully you will never need to use it. (check further down the board to medicine cabinet needs.) also your child should wear an emergency bracelet. (My daughter's is on her ankle until she is big enough for it to stay on her wrist.) it should say something like: adrenal insufficiency; in case of trauma or stress give cortisol. i ordered mine on line. what also simplified my life was a pill cutter/crusher recommended by someone on this board. it can carry the pills (2 sections), split, and crush them. now we need one thing to carry it all. we crush the pill in it and put the meds on our finger and sort of wipe it on her tongue. since she started so young she does not mind the taste as others do. i also ordered this online at drugstore.com it is the master II but i forgot the brand name. this message board has been a wealth of knowledge. check out the archives. there have been many explanations on CAH. this board also has some great references at the top of the page to medical texts. if you have more specific questions please post and i'm sure you'll get answers. congratulations on the birth of your beautiful child!! blessings! julia
