My Doctor who is the chief of pediatrics at Yale New Haven Hospital says that you should always pay attention if your child is craving salts. Craving something is a sign that your body needs something that it is not getting enough of. I find that when my son sweats excessively, he requires salty foods as in gatorade or potato chips. I have actually heard him say "I need salt mommy" and lick the salt crystals right off the pretzels. He does take florinef also. Maybe it has something to do with being a severe salt waster or not so severe. I believe that Dr. New's office has agreed with giving the salt when they are craving it as well. This is very interesting.
