Our son is a CAH 17 OH Pregneleone Deficiency Salt Waster, and he is a junior at high school, from the 2nd grade, and with alot of struggle, we were able to get him the help he needs in school to be successful. Brandon has an IEP (Individual Education Program) that helps him achieve his goals. He is categorized by Other Health Impairments. I cant say I was shocked by this, his peds endo told us that children that are born with alot of medical problems, tend to have some delays. His LD is in reading/writing. He does real well with math. He is in a learning/support lab, not a special ed program. He is in a smaller regular class, gets graded the same way, the only difference is that all his teachers know that if he needs more time with something he can take it to his support lab and finish it, he also gets the extra help with reading/writing in that class too. We have been very pleased with his progress, I do have to say that both my husband & I work very hard with him at home and keep everything positive. We had opened house and had good responses from all his teachers and they could see how hard he tries and the work we all put into it. My only advice is to stay on top of your child education, each teacher will have there own little opinion, but the bottom line is that we want all our children to be successful, we have never asked for anything more.
